Zinc Flake (Organometallic)

LAURENTCOAT® 787

Water-based

Description

LAURENTCOAT® 787 is a premium water-based organometallic coating formulated with zinc and aluminum flakes to provide high-performance corrosion protection. Its hexavalent chromium-free technology delivers a uniform, high-quality metallic silver-gray finish, ideal for metal parts that require durability, precision, and resistance under demanding conditions.

Cold application through Dip-Spin or Spray processes makes it possible to achieve a uniform low-thickness film, between 5 and 12 microns, without compromising part dimensions or functionality. As a non-electrolytic, acid-free system with thermal curing, it prevents hydrogen entrapment and helps maintain the mechanical strength of the treated steel.

LAURENTCOAT® 787 provides comprehensive corrosion protection by combining cathodic protection, barrier effect, passivation, and self-healing capacity against surface damage. Its performance can range from 720 to more than 1,000 hours in salt spray testing under ASTM B117, while also meeting specifications such as ASTM F 1136, ASTM F-3393, EN/ISO 10683, and EN 13858.

Key Features

Superior Resistance

Up to 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance per ASTM B117.

Uniform Coating

Uniform thickness from 5 to 12 microns, ensuring a consistent, high-performance finish.

No Hydrogen Entrapment

Non-electrolytic, acid-free application with thermal curing that preserves the steel’s strength.

High Corrosion Resistance

  • Cathodic Protection: Zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, protecting iron or steel against corrosion.
  • Passivation: Metal oxides and chromium stabilize the coating and reduce corrosion between metals.
  • Barrier Effect: The zinc and aluminum layer acts as a shield against corrosive agents.
  • Self-Healing: Surface damage seals itself as the zinc reacts with air, naturally repairing the layer.
