The El Quemado Solar Park is one of the most compelling examples of this process.<\/p><p>At Chousa, we were part of this project. Our role was to ensure that the fixings supporting the entire park structure had the correct anti-corrosion treatment to last as long as the project requires: 25 years of continuous operation.<\/p><hr \/><h3>The project: Argentina's largest solar park<\/h3><p>The El Quemado Solar Park, led by YPF Luz, is the largest solar park in Argentina. Located in Las Heras, Mendoza, it has an installed capacity of 305 MW, more than 500,000 bifacial solar panels, and covers an area of \u200b\u200bmore than 600 hectares. It supplies energy to more than 233,000 Argentine homes.<\/p><p>A project of this scale not only represents a huge investment. It represents a long-term commitment to operational reliability. Every component of that infrastructure must live up to that commitment.<\/p><hr \/><h3>Environmental Conditions of the Park<\/h3><p>The park operates in the arid region of Mendoza, an environment with very demanding conditions for metallic components:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Extreme heat and intense UV radiation for much of the year<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Constant dust and abrasive particles in suspension<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Significant temperature variations between day and night<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Variable humidity accelerates corrosion processes in metal joints<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>In this context, the fasteners that connect and support the solar panel structures are permanently exposed. A failure in these parts is not a minor problem\u2014it can compromise the stability of the structure and force costly maintenance interventions in an installation designed to operate with minimal maintenance for decades.<\/p><p>Choosing the right anti-corrosion treatment for the fasteners was a critical decision for the project.<\/p><hr \/><h3>Why Laurentcoat\u00ae<\/h3><p>Chousa applied Laurentcoat\u00ae, its zinc-laminated coating technology, to the park's fasteners\u2014bolts, nuts, and washers that connect and support the metal structures of the panels. The choice was not arbitrary\u2014Laurentcoat\u00ae offers concrete advantages for this type of application.<\/p><ol><li><strong>High corrosion resistance under extreme conditions<\/strong> Laurentcoat\u00ae achieves up to 1,000 hours of resistance in salt spray tests (ASTM B117). In a park designed to operate for 25 years in an arid and demanding environment, this resistance is the foundation of the system's reliability.<\/li><li><strong>Controlled thickness and dimensional accuracy<\/strong> With thicknesses between 5 and 12 microns, Laurentcoat\u00ae does not alter the dimensional tolerances of the fasteners. Threaded components assemble correctly without the need for subsequent adjustments. In an installation of 500,000 panels, this assembly efficiency has a direct impact on installation time and costs.<\/li><li><strong>No handling issues on site<\/strong> Washers and flat parts come out of the process separated and ready to use. There is no rework, no manual separation, and no delays in the field. On a project of this scale, every minute of installation efficiency counts.<\/li><li><strong>Uniform Coverage Across the Entire Part Geometry<\/strong> The dip-spin application ensures consistent protection across all areas of the fastener, including threads, cavities, and complex geometries. This eliminates weak points where corrosion can start prematurely.<\/li><li><strong>Regulatory Compliance<\/strong> Laurentcoat\u00ae complies with ASTM F1136 and ISO 10683, international standards for zinc sheet coatings in structural fastening applications.<\/li><\/ol><hr \/><h3>The result: long-term reliability<\/h3><p>Thanks to the application of Laurentcoat\u00ae, the fasteners at the El Quemado Solar Park have reliable corrosion protection, validated for the project's environmental conditions and sized to last the installation's lifespan.<\/p><hr \/><h3>Chousa in the Renewable Energy Industry<\/h3><p>Chousa's involvement in the El Quemado Solar Park is not an isolated case.
